Sinoville Congregation History
1983 - PRESENT
Sinoville congregation commenced as a congregation in 1983 in the hall of Prestige Nursery School, Kenley Plots. Priest Henry Els was appointed as rector for Sinoville congregation in 1984 and they formed part of Hercules district at the time. He was rector of the congregation until April 1992 when he relocated back to Durban. He currently resides in New Zealand with his wife Jeanette Els.
We attended services in Pretoria North congregation from January 1990 – February 1991 due to no hall available for services. A new hall was found at the Doornrosie Nursery School in Doornpoort during 1991 and Sinoville congregation then formed part of the Gezina District.
Thomas Arpin was appointed as rector in May 1992 after Priest Els left. Deacon Alan Wall was ordained as priest in April 1992. After a few years Priest Arpin was transferred to another congregation and Priest Vernon Rudolph was made rector of Sinoville. In the time that Priest Rudolph was rector, we attended Gezina congregation for a while, because the nursery school needed their hall for their own use. Vernon Rudolph was the rector until August 2002.
In September 2002 a new venue was found at Montana Hoërskool and priest Willie Steyn was ordained as rector of Sinoville congregation. Shepherd Michael Janse van Rensburg was appointed as new rector of Sinoville between September 2004 and July 2005. He was the rector until July 2009 when he was transferred to Grootvlei congregation. In 2007 Sinoville congregation became part of Pretoria North District.
On 29 July 2009 Priest Steve de Jager was ordained as Evangelist and appointed as new rector of Sinoville congregation on the same day. He is currently the rector of the congregation.
